Entries due 22ND April 2022, Showcase event 16TH June 2022
The AIHA are celebrating the 100th anniversary of James Joyce’s Ulysses with a new competition. They are inviting fans, scholars and the curious to take up the challenge of capturing some content of Ulysses in any of four formats (poetry, play, prose or song) as a 15-minute piece that can be presented to a live audience at a celebratory event on June 16th, which is officially known as Bloomsday, named for the hero of Ulysses, Leopold Bloom.
At the event, the shortlisted entries will be given a performance fee of $150 each. The overall winner will be chosen by popular vote on the night and will receive a cash prize. Whether you choose to work as a team, or go solo, it’s up to you. It’s time to unleash the creative in you!
Entry is free, but please submit your work as a Word document, in 12pt Times Roman, double-spaced and outlining clearly how the work is to be presented. And please note that if your entry is short-listed you will be required to perform your piece at a Perth venue to be determined. COVID guidelines at the time will be adhered to.
An independent expert will select the shortlist.
Please send your submissions and any enquiries to Diana McTiernan by email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than April 22nd. The shortlist will be announced by the middle of May.
